Reviewing footage from a workshop that I will be weaving together along with some new responses and edits for my current Royal Philharmonic Orchestra commission.

It was a really fun workshop experimenting with shadow play and animations with pupils at Manor School, Brent working in response to 3 brilliant Royal Philharmonic Orchestra musicians (violin, cello and trumpet)

Manor school specialises in providing tailored education for pupils with diverse needs, including Autism and severe/complex learning difficulties. I have been commissioned by @royalphilorchestra to make a series of films which will be projected alongside the live orchestra in their Relaxed Performance series. Some of the films are co-created and it is hoped that the pupils will come along to the Relaxed Performances to see their film.

We worked in different ways in response to 3 fantastic musicians (cello, violin and flute) and the day ended with a playful improvised performative installtion of projections, conducting and pulling the giant acetate film reel we made through OHPs to live trio of musicians.

I will be developing and building on some of the material created to make a co-created film which will be projected alongside the live orchestra in their Relaxed Performance series.

This year I’m co-creating some of the films via some inclusive workshops with groups local to the first performance which will be at Brent Civic Centre next year.

First up I’ll be working with Brent Mencap. Part of the process of developing ideas for the films and workshops involve a kind of ‘laboratory’ moment where I’m cooking up ideas often turning my home upside down testing things out and playing around until I work out what I might want to do. Captured a bit of that here… more to come.. (this isn’t the music I’m working with)
