Learning From a Year of Drawing Symposium

As one of the lead artist on the year Of Drawing project devised by Sussex Partnership NHS Trust's arts and health programme I was invited to contribute to the symposium which took place at the Medical College at Sussex University. As well as facilitating break out sessions sharing practice, I led a 'drawing session' with the symposium audience including individual and group drawing games and whole audience participation. There were some fascinating speakers at the symposium and it was a good opportunity to reflect on the impressively broad reach of this project which has had events and workshops in public museums and galleries, 6 week Recovery College courses, pop up studios in different community and clinical settings and interventions on locked wards taking art into places that are hard to reach.
